As early as 1985, FIMOR patented an anodized aluminum holder offering the following features:
1. Three-component assembly for easy blade cleaning or interchange:all 3 elements are accessible within seconds
2. Three indentation settings to adjust for any squeegee thickness (from 5 to 10mm or 3/16 to 3/8 inches);
3. Everlasting use thanks to the stiffness of the profile and the quality of the anodization;
4. Stable angle of attack:the holder keeps the blade in a perfectly flat and straight position;
5. Accommodates any squeegee height (from 25 to 50mm or 1 to 2 inches);
6. End-caps for sides sealing on request.
The per meter (per inch) price is only slightly higher than the price of wooden holders, but serilorŪhand offers only advantages over a wooden construction.

The overall principle is versatility:the anodized upper holding component may be adjusted to most presses, and a set of two jaws, with the same indentation principle as for the aluminum serilorŪhand profile, can accommodate any squeegee thickness. The first three holders (MACH STRAIGHT, MACH 15o, MACH BUILT-IN) come either with the same "standard" (54mm or 2-1/8 inches) jaws as the manual holder, or with "compact" (38mm or 1-1/2 inch) ones, for when clearance is insufficient. When ordering any of those three serilorŪmach profiles, specify "standard" or "compact" jaws. Mention also if end-caps are required; they are available for all three models.
serilorŪmach straight
This model, thanks to the upper grooves (as shown in sketch), is designed to be mounted on any modern press , featuring an ADJUSTABLE angle of attack for the blade. It may be fitted to any standard beam up to 40mm or 1-1/2 inch wide and 60mm or 2-1/4 inch high, thanks to a heavy-duty serilorŪclamp that offers as many as 7 tightening points, rather than the 3 common on standard clamps.
serilorŪmach 15°
This profile has a built-in fixed 15° angle and is designed to be mounted on small or older equipment with no squeegee inclination adjustment facility. Just as the STRAIGHT MODEL, it may be fitted to any standard beam.
serilorŪmach bolt in
A third serilorŪmach profile is designed to be bolted directly onto the beam, rather than secured with a clamp. On some constructions, it may be hung from the sides of the press. The usual choice of
"standard" (54mm or 2-1/8 inches)
or "compact" (38mm or 1-1/2 inch ) jaws
is available for the BOLT-IN model.
serilorCOMBIŪ;COMBI
The SERILOR COMBIŪ is a patented design of Squeegee Blade specially designed for the Screen printing Industry. It works on a parallelogram principle and consists of two steel spring 'comb' suspensions straddled by a Polyurethane Printing Tip.
Conventional Squeegee Blades are generally made from 100% Polyurethane but they can, unless fully supported, deflect under the smallest of pressures, resulting in the effective pressure point being transferred away from the designed edge. With greater pressure, greater deflection results and defeats the object of a Squeegee Blade. With a 'fully rigid' Squeegee Blade, such as in the case of a glass reinforced blade, there is no ability to flex, except in the area of the tip, so variations in printing quality along the length can occur depending on the flatness quality of the substrate.
With the SERILOR COMBIŪ; the unique design allows for small deflections to occur, but large ones are prevented by 'equal and opposite forces' working to pull the displacement back into line. Thus the blade is not rigid along its length but is able to retain its stability. The idea was postulated and patented by FIMOR, France and following 2 years funded research by The University of Swansea, Wales, into how it works, improvements have been made resulting in the MK 6 version currently in limited production. The wish to constantly improve the design has delayed the proposed production launch but in the next few months the printing world will see the commercialization of this unique product.
So what are the main advantages of the SERILOR COMBIŪ;?
They are :
1) Any solid densities produced are relatively insensitive to Squeegee angle and pressure.
2) The COMBIŪ; can cope with small changes in the unevenness of surfaces.
3) Compared with 'like Polyurethane' conventional Squeegees, COMBIŪ; wear is considerably reduced. This is however not yet fully understood but it is probably directly related to the pressure or lack of it.
4) There are possibilities of softening or hardening both the suspensions' and the 'tips', to allow for printing on virtually all substrates to give heavy deposits or fine line details.
5) 'Snap off' distance has little effect on the print quality. However the set-up used had only a small adjustment.
6) COMBIŪ; performance is enhanced, particularly half-tone and fine line work, as speed increases. There is no advantage at very low speeds compared with conventional types. Printing trials on high speed cylinder presses have not shown speed to be a limiting factor, for no aquaplaning occurs.
